STAGING

Over the past 20 years or so, “staging” has become a marketing tool that most realtors have added to their “bag of tricks”. They recommend it because it has proven to be really quite effective. The degree to which a home is “staged” can vary greatly; everything from complete rooms of furniture throughout the house to simply working with the placement of furniture already there. Therefore, prices can vary from $500 - $5,000.

The idea is to add interest, warmth and character to what otherwise could be a boring and cold space. Staging helps prospective buyers imagine the possibilities. Many times, the cost of staging is returned 3 or 4-fold in the final sales price. Often how much staging is used depends of the seller’s budget.

Below are some examples of staging in a small home that was marketed in the Richmond Annex in July of 2010. The budget here was $1,500.
