Here's Why You'll Love Hercules

Refugio Valley Park

Hercules has over 98 acres of parkland in six parks created as part of its master planning effort, the most central being Refugio Valley Park. Refugio Valley Park is a great place to spend the day whether for jogging, for a picnic, duck watching, or simply reading on the grass.

Victoria By the Bay

Victoria by the Bay is the crown jewel of Hercules. It’s a 206 acre master planned community consisting of 880 new homes, 15 acres of parks and open space, parks, retail stores and waterfront access. The neighborhood includes modern and upscale single family detached and attached homes.

Waterfront Restaurant

Leila’s on the Bay is one of Hercules’ best places to enjoy a weekend champagne brunch while sitting outside on a patio with a bay view.

Affordability

Hercules’ properties are relatively affordable compared to other cities in the East Bay. In 2018, the median single family home value in Hercules  was $649,300. Home values have gone up 7.4% over the past year and Zillow predicts they will rise 5.7% within the next year.

Modern Amenities

The new Hercules Library is modern and boasts an architecturally significant design. The library’s 21,500 square feet include a Teen Room, two meeting rooms, three study rooms, a Sky Garden, a Children’s Garden, a children’s story area called the Story Cone, the Friends of the Hercules Library Bookstore, and a reading area with comfortable seating around a fireplace.

Low Crime

Hercules has a generally low crime rate. Based on 2014 FBI Data, Hercules had 1.12 violent crimes per 1,000 and 13.27 property crimes per thousand,  which is lower than national and state averages.

Regional Intermodal Transportation Center

Currently under development, The Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC) will combine several modes of public transportation (train and bus, with possible ferry service in the future) in one convenient Waterfront location along Bayfront Boulevard near Refugio Creek. Design of the train infrastructure improvements – track alignment, signals, pedestrian walkways, center-boarding platform, and station structure – is nearly complete.
